Kolkata, (Rajat Bansal) YNN: Today, on 29 May 2024, Sahitya Akademi organized a Book Discussion Programme on Sahitya Akademi Award winning books in Bengali Translation at Sahitya Akademi auditorium, 4 D.L.Khan Road, Kolkata 700025. In the programme, four Sahitya Akademi Award winning collections of short stories were selected for discussion. While Krishna Bhattacharya focused on her Bengali translation of Gourahari Das’s collection of Odia short stories entitled Kanta O Anyanya Galpa, Shyamal Bhattacharya spoke his Bengali translations of Ved Rahi’s collection of Dogri short stories entitled Ay Re, Om Goswami’s collection of Dogri short stories entitled Sonar Pakhi and Mohan Bhandari’s collection of Punjabi short stories entitled Kumari Harinir Chokh. In the programme, the welcome address was delivered by Kshetrabasi Naik, Officer-in-charge, Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata. He introduced the speakers to the audience and highlighted the importance of organizing such programmes. In the programme, the speakers spoke on their experiences of translation as well as the plots and characters of these texts which enrich the transdion of Indian short stories. The programme ended with a short interaction session.
