Annual Conference of Adiskandha Samaj Held at Asurgarh

Kalahandi, YNN: The 27th Annual Conference of Adiskandha Samaj was held with great enthusiasm on Monday at Veer Kamal Maidan in Asurgarh, Narla Block, Kalahandi District. Hundreds of people from the Kandha community gathered and worshiped at the Smruti Pitha of Veer Kamal Madan Asurgarh. Following the worship, the traditional flag was hoisted. Tribals from various parts of the state showcased different aspects of Kandha culture with traditional musical instruments and dances, filling the air with the vibrant sounds of their heritage.

The annual celebration of Adiskandha Samaj commenced at noon. The conference was presided over by Veer Kamal Maidan President Amar Singh Majhi. The chief guest was Kalahandi Zilla Adivasi Sangha President Prakash Majhi. Other notable attendees included Narla Block Kandha Samaj President Antaram Majhi, Narla Block Adivasi Sangha President Harishankar Majhi, Lanjigarh Block Kandha Samaj Organizer Tankadhar Majhi, Karlamunda Block Kandha Samaj President Gobinda Bhoi, Kalahandi Zilla Pat Majhi Judhisthi Pat Majhi, Majhi Desh Pragana President Dhiren Majhi, Kesinga Block Kandha Samaj Vice President Krushnachandra Majhi, Gahaka Pragana President Parameswar Majhi, Madanpur Rampur Block Kandha Samaj Vice President Sadhuram Bhoi, Narla Senior Block Education Officer Tapimani Jani, Researcher Dolamani Majhi, Sudarshan Bhoi, Dibya Singh Bhoi, Youth Organizer Dolamani Majhi, Mayadhar Majhi, and Bikram Majhi.

The event also commemorated the sacrifice of Veer Kamal Majhi and others, who were sentenced by the British government on May 20, 1882. Veer Kamal Majhi was hanged, while 19 Kandhas and one Goud (Rekhpur Gauntia Jagat Bhoi) were sentenced to Kalapani. For the past 26 years, the Adiskandha society has celebrated this day as Unity Day, organized by the Veer Kamal Maidan Committee.

On this occasion, Sr BEO Tapimani Jani, recipient of the Mukhyamantri Shiksha Puraskar, was honored with the Kamal Majhi Smruti Samman. The stage was jointly conducted by educator Tulsi Das Majhi and Kandhan poet Kshitish Chandra Majhi. The Veer Kamal Maidan General Secretary Debaraj Majhi, along with associates Nouka Majhi, Bidu Majhi, Raju Majhi, 26 panchayat presidents, activists, and other prominent community members contributed to the program.
