Construction of Mahagaon-Dhoben Luhajor Bridge Finally Begins

Residents Express Gratitude to the Administration

Kalahandi, YNN: The long-awaited construction of the Luhajor Bridge, connecting Mahgaon in Kesinga block and Dhoben village in Narla block, has commenced. This development comes 77 years after India’s independence. The river, which consistently has 4 to 5 feet of water, often obstructs movement, cutting off the primary route between the Kesinga and Narla blocks. This disconnection has posed significant challenges, especially during the rainy season.

The persistent efforts of local leaders and residents have finally paid off. Key figures such as Kesinga Block Vice Chairman Ms. Rajalakshmi Pattanayak, Deogaon Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Mr. Dambarudhar Pattanayak, prominent Kalahandi social worker and Kundabandh Samiti member Mr. Manoj Kumar Pattanayak, Mahgaon ward members Mr. Arabinda Sabar and Mr. Sindhu Sabar, former Samiti member Gajindra Sabar, Vice President of Domb Samaj Mr. Anil Behera, former headmaster Mr. Keshari Sabar, as well as intellectuals and villagers, have been instrumental in advocating for this project. They frequently engaged with the Executive Engineer of the RD Department, SDO, and JE to push for the bridge’s construction.

Their efforts culminated in the tender being issued and the initiation of the bridge’s construction. The Kesinga Block Vice Chairman, along with the Deogaon Sarpanch, Kundabandh Samiti member, and villagers of Mahgaon, have expressed their gratitude to the administration for addressing this long-standing demand.
