Free Ration and Dry Food Reaches Rain-Hit Families at Their Doorsteps
Kalahandi (Sushant Kumar Dalei): The low-pressure-induced incessant rainfall has created an emergency-like situation in the Golamunda block of Kalahandi district. As many as 28 GPs in the block have suffered extensive damage, with normal life completely thrown out of gear. Continuous downpour has resulted in mud houses of several poor families collapsing, roofs being blown away, and floodwater entering many homes. In some low-lying areas, people remain marooned, completely cut off from the outside world. With no fire to cook, children and the elderly, in particular, are facing a grim struggle without food.
At this critical hour of crisis, the BinduMina Seva Foundation has emerged as a saviour for the helpless. The Foundation’s volunteers have reached every nook and corner of all 28 panchayats in the block, identifying the most vulnerable and deserving families. Even before administrative assistance could reach them, Foundation members went door-to-door distributing free essential ration and dry food items. Each humanitarian aid packet contained rice, dal, cooking oil, potatoes and other essential cooking ingredients. Additionally, biscuits and mixtures for immediate consumption, along with soap, rope and umbrellas for health and protection, were also provided.
Hundreds of families have been saved from going hungry, thanks to this swift intervention. The entire initiative is being conducted under the able leadership and direct supervision of Bindu Mahinananda, the block chairman and president of the BinduMina Seva Foundation. Residents across Golamunda have expressed their happiness at seeing their block chairman personally oversee relief work at the grassroots level during their hour of distress, and have conveyed their gratitude for this humanitarian effort.
Several prominent citizens and service-minded youth of the area have extended a helping hand in making this massive relief drive a success. Among those who worked tirelessly round the clock to ensure supplies reached the affected areas were Jayanta Singh, Basanta Chalan, Durges Agarwal, Bishikesan Jotish, Bhagyaban Bag, Baisakhu Ketaki, Ganga Vishnu Mund, Pramod Pradhan, Jaya Krishna Sahu, Benu Sahu, Padma Sunani, Sunil Sahu, Manoj Agarwal, Pintu Meher, Mahendra Mangaraj, Pradeep Mahananda, Jagujiban Sethia, Nibed Sahu, Indra Mani Sahu, Ananta Tandi, Jaya Krishna Sahu, Chaturbhuja Agharia, Bhaktiram Bag, Muniram Nag, Kartik Purohit, Dhiman Sunani, Ashok Mangaraj, Saroj Mangaraj, Yuvraj Mangaraj, Gajindra Bihari, Tikaram Sethia, Lalit Mangaraj, Bibhisan Sethia, Bhisma Meher, Sundar Meher, Kalia Sahu, Pawan Agarwal and Chandra Ketaki. The Foundation has informed that the relief work will continue in the days ahead.
