Ashirbad Mahaptra, A Tree Lover And The Recipient Of Prakruti Bandhu Award-2023

Cuttack Sadar (Srikanta Beura): Afforestation can be described as the best way to protect our environment from global warming and pollution. In theis regards numbers of organization and agency making effort to sensitize human society. A man named Ashirbad Mahapatra Son of Ram Narayan Mahapatra and Damayanti Mahapatra from Bargarh district of Odisha has demonstrated that being a committed environmentalist by planting a large number of trees. Mr Mahapatra was born in Kulita Tukura village in the attabira block of the Bargarh district of Odisha in 1997.

In 2012, he decided to pursue a career as a mountaineer, and he eventually gained notoriety as “Mountaineer Anup.” Ashirbad Mahapatra has been planting numerous trees, developing a unique personality for himself and serving as an inspiration to younger generation. On July 5, 2023, the Collector of Bargarh Manisha Banerjee honoured him as “Prakruti Bandhu” in recognition of his unwavering devotion to nature. In addition to this as a selfless social worker who, with the collaboration of the district administration and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan ,Bargarh provided food and drinking water to immigrants from various cities during the Covid 19 Pendamic, also distributed mask and sanitizers from village to village in his region during the Pendamic.Currently Mr. Mahapatra, plants trees with the help of many youth organizations of Bargarh and Sambalpur region .

As he has produced numerous worthwhile programmes on environmental issues, including protecting against forest fire ,providing water, food and drinking water systems for animals, birds, and domestic animals. As a result, the Forest & Environment Department of Government of Odisha awarded the “prakruti Bandhu” for his excellence in environmental conservation and awareness programmes.
