Krushi Samman to Manmath Sahu, Deshseva Samman to Umesh Goud

Jayahari Putel, Bijay Das, and Kshitish Majhi will be honored with Guru Samman

Narla (Lingraj Mishra): Senior Ghumura Guru Bharat Bhushan Chalan is set to receive the prestigious Devgiri Lokanrutya Samman from Odisha’s leading organization, Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan. The organization has announced that this honor recognizes his lifelong contribution to the folk dance ‘Ghumura’. Mr. Chalan, passionate about Ghumura dance since childhood, dedicated his life to its propagation. He showcased Ghumura dance across the state and the country, including notable events like Bharat Utsav in Moscow (1987), New Delhi Asiad (1982), Kisan Mela in New Delhi (1984), National Cultural Festival in New Delhi (1987), and Odisha Divas in Ahmedabad, Gujarat (1980).

Similarly, Engineer Manmath Sahu will be honored with the Devgiri Krushi Samman. A resident of Bordi village, Golamunda block, Mr. Sahu, a civil engineering diploma holder, shifted his focus to agriculture after working as an engineer. Presently, he cultivates vegetables, paddy, cotton, goats, native chickens, chicks, and fishes on 22 acres of land in Sinakhunti village under Junagadh block, setting an example for the youth. Additionally, the emerging soldier Umesh Goud, born in Arjungaon in Kalahandi district’s Narla block, will be recognized with the Devgiri Deshseva Samman for his service in the Indian Army.

Moreover, educationists Jayahari Putel, Bijay Kumar Dash, and Kshitish Chandra Majhi will be honored with the Devgiri Guru Samman. Jayahari Putel, a retired teacher from Kesinga Block, Utkela, with a 37-year teaching career, produced many successful students. Presently serving as Sadar Block Attangguda Cluster Research Centre Coordinator, Bijay Dash excelled in education and contributed to telefilms and dramas. Similarly, Kshitish Majhi, a poet, musician, and teacher from Khamanpada, Narla block, received numerous accolades, including Janajati Gourav Samman and Adivasi Pratibha Samman from Govt. of Odisha, establishing himself as an outstanding teacher.

These talented individuals will be honored during the 31st annual function of Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan and the state-level Kumarswami Mahotsav-2023, scheduled from November 25 to 27 at Budhipadar under Narla Block in Kalahandi district. Further announcements for honors in other categories will be made soon, as conveyed by Sanjay Dhangadamajhi, the organization’s president, and Sunil Kumar Dhangadamajhi, the general secretary.
