Balasore: School Teacher Critically Hurt In Attack By Miscreants

Balasore: A woman school teacher suffered critically injury on her hands after three unidentified miscreants attacked her in the Remuna area of Balasore late Wednesday afternoon.

According to sources, the victim identified as Harapriya Nayak, a teacher of Dighapada Primary School, stays with her parents near Remuna Naraharipur Bypass.

Sources said, after finishing classes, Harapriya was returning home on her scooter at 4 pm today. Meanwhile, three bike-borne miscreants trailed her and waylaid her at a deserted place near Naraharipur Bypass.

When the teacher stopped her vehicle, one of the miscreants attacked her with a machette all of a sudden. Harapriya tried to block the machette attack with her bare hands and sustained critical injuries.

The miscreants, however, managed to flee the spot when the teacher started shouting for help. In the meanwhile, some locals and passersby spotted the woman teacher in distress and rushed her to Remuna Community Health Center.

Reportedly, the injured teacher has been shifted to a private hospital for further treatment.

After receiving information about the incident, personnel of both Remuna and Industrial police stations reached the spot and started an investigation.

Though the motive of the criminals behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, police suspect the attack was to loot the victim.
