Kalahandi, YNN (Lingaraj Mishra): The Mahima dharma followers of western Odisha will observe the customary ritual of partaking of Nabanna, the new harvest, by offering it to the Lord on the full moon day of Shravana. As part of this tradition, the Nabanna Bhakshan (Nuakhai) ceremony will be held with great fervour at the Satya Mahima Ashram in Parabangi village, Narla block of Kalahandi district, on Thursday, 27 August.
This information was given by the ashram head, Sadhu Prabhakar Das Maharaj, who is also a central guide of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and a pracharak of the Akhil Bharatiya Dharma Vibhag. As per the Maharaj, the observance will begin on Wednesday evening, 26 August, the Chaturdashi of Shravana Suklapaksha, with the lighting of the Akhanda Brahma Dhuni and a whole-night recital of the Lord’s name. On Thursday, during the Brahma Muhurta of the full moon day, the Nabanna will be offered to the Lord along with Saptamruta Pana. Thereafter, at 7 am, all Mahima followers will partake of the Nabanna.
Maharaj Sadhu Prabhakar Das will himself light the sacred dhuni and offer the Nabanna bhog to the devotees with his own hands. Preparations for the event are in full swing at the ashram. The Maharaj has urged all to take part in the programme.
