Bhubaneswar, YNN: The 14th batch convocation and Kalinga Media Award ceremony of Kalinga Media Services was held at the Global Institute of Engineering and Management campus in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. The event was inaugurated by former Union Minister Braja Kishore Tripathi, with veteran journalist Pradosh Patnaik attending as the chief guest.
Renowned journalist Sriram Das delivered the keynote address, while Sudhir Panda, editor of the daily newspaper ‘Pratidin’, senior journalist Bapi Mishra, president of the institution and senior lawyer Gokulananda Patnaik were among the distinguished guests. Dr Maheswar, Director and Secretary of Kalinga Media, introduced the guests and moderated the meeting.
On this occasion, senior journalist Santosh Singhdeo was honoured with the Kalinga Media Award. Mr Singhdeo, who serves as the Kalahandi District Correspondent for ‘Prameya’, is recognised for his impartial journalism and his significant role in conveying the voices of the common people to the administration and government.
The programme also featured a workshop on the role of the media and the working style of journalists, providing guidance to all students of Kalinga Media. Additionally, all students were honoured and encouraged to advance further in the field of journalism. The event saw participation from 70 journalists from across Odisha. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Binati Nayak.
