Kalahandi, YNN (Rajat Bansal): The Kalahandi district level Teachers’ Day and Vidyarthi Samvardhana Ceremony-2024 was held at the District Institute of Education and Training ground in Bhawanipatna. Organised by the School and Mass Education Department, the event was presided over by District Education Officer Sushant Kumar Chopdar. Distinguished guests included Kalahandi MP Malvika Devi, Zilla Parishad Chairman Pushendra Singhdeo, Junagadh MLA Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, Collector and DM Sachin Pawar Prakash, Bhawanipatna Sub-Collector Biswajit Dash, District Information and Public Relations Officer Haladhar Nial, District Social Security Officer Birendra Kanhar, Kalahandi MP representative Jaya Shankar Naik, and Bhawanipatna Block Chairman Prafulla Kumar Sahu.
During the ceremony, 117 students who excelled in the district’s last 10th class examination were awarded District Academic Awards of ₹10,000 each, totalling ₹11,70,000. Additionally, 1318 students from the 13 blocks of the district received Block Academic Awards of ₹5,000 each, amounting to ₹65,90,000. Furthermore, 45 students who excelled in the Odia subject were awarded the Odia Bhasha Brutti of ₹7,500 each, totalling ₹3,37,500. The students were also presented with trophies and certificates.
The event also honoured retired meritorious teachers and headmasters of the district. The meeting was moderated by teachers Dileswar Rana, Shruti Silva Panda, and Barsha Rani Tripathi. The vote of thanks was delivered by Additional District Education Officer Pabitra Mohan Sahu.
Block Education Officers and Additional Block Education Officers of the 13 blocks, along with all the staff of the DEO and DPC office, participated in the programme.
A live telecast of the state-level Teachers’ Day celebration and Vidyarthi Samvardhana Ceremony from Bhubaneswar Lok Seva Bhawan was shown later. The entire programme was conducted under the supervision of Mo School coordinator Prashanta Kumar Nanda and higher secondary education coordinator Birendra Acharya.
