Narla (Lingraj Mishra): Senior Kandha art researcher Medinidhar Jani will be conferred with the prestigious Devgiri Kala Samman by the state’s premier institution, Devgiri Sanskrutuk Anusthan. He will be honored for his lifetime of research on the art culture of the tribal Kandha community. Mr. Jani, who is currently a board committee member of Odisha Tribal Language and Culture Academy, has been honored at various places in the state and the country, including the Adivasi Pratibha Samman from the state government, while working as the founder and chief editor of ‘Bhima’, a journal of tribal culture. Similarly, young fine artist Kshirsindhu Bhoi (Shyam) will be conferred with the Devgiri Shilpi Samman. Hailing from Bhawanipatna, Shyam has excelled in painting and sculpture and has exhibited his art in many places in the state and the country. In addition, prominent education organizer Prafulla Kumar Thakur will be honored by Devgiri Sangathan Samman. started the organization by leading the student union of Sambalpur University from the student days and later led the teachers’ society and achieved many achievements. Similarly, the Devgiri Samajseva Samman will be given to Dandapat Yuva Seva Sangathan at Behera in Kalahandi district. It is active in the areas of women empowerment, distribution of winter clothes and new clothes to the destitute, orphans and widows, elimination of unemployment, higher education for meritorious students, ambulance services etc. Along with them, senior social worker Maangobinda Mohanty, educationist Narasingha Barik, poet Jadbendra Saha, poet Arjun Gopal, artist Rohit Biswal will be felicitated. These talents will be felicitated on the occasion of the 31st annual function of Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan and the state-level Kumarswami Mahotsav-2023, which will be held from November 25 to 27 at Budhipadar under Narla Block of Kakahandi district.
