Bhawanipatna: Kalahandi University celebrated its third foundation day with a grand ceremony in Bhawanipatna. The event was inaugurated by Padmashri Pattaet Sahu and attended by distinguished guests like Prof. Gopbandhu Behera, Jagannath Mund, Umashankar Kar, Surjit Singh, Ramchandra Mishra, and K.V. Singhdeo. Notable figures, including CPGC Dr. Nibedita Nath, CFO Suresh Pidisika, and registrar Pitambar Bhoi, as well as university staff, faculty members, and thousands of students were present. The program, led by Major Dr. Jayadeb Sahoo, Head of the English Department, featured book launches and a book fair, including ‘Refulgent Odisha’ and Dr. Ramachandra Mishra’s ‘Abibhakta Kalahandi Zillara Loka DevaDevi o Loka Bhswas.’ In the evening, a vibrant cultural program was presented by Sarbeswar Bhoi and his team. The Vice Chancellor’s Cup debate competition awarded top positions to talented participants from both the English and Odia departments. Bhagyabati Naik received the Employee of the Year award, while Subham Mahakud was recognized as the Student of the Year. Additionally, Satyanarayan Mundchhina, the principal of Maa Manikeswari Higher Secondary School, Thuamaul Rampur, delivered a motivational lecture titled ‘Thuamul Rampur on the map of Kalahandi’ in the 121st episode of the lecture series ‘Uttisthata.’
