Bhawanipatna: The Kalahandi District Education Office has executed a grand plan with a district-level mega camp held at Govt Girls’ High School, Bhawanipatna. The central objective of this endeavor is to enroll a significant count of students who have experienced dropout, failure, or absence in their 10th exam, within the framework of the State Institute of Open Schooling (SIOS). The event saw significant participation from students, parents, teachers, CRCCs, SIOS coordinators, BEOs, and ABEOs representing all 13 blocks of Kalahandi district.
The inauguration of the program was led by District Education Officer Sushant Kumar Chopdar. Additional District Education Officer Temlal Dubey emphasized the various facilities offered by SIOS and extended encouragement to the students. The Kalahandi District Education Office continues to pioneer efforts to reintegrate dropout students into the mainstream educational system by enrolling them in SIOS.
Each high school shoulders the responsibility of 10 to 15 such students, with designated point persons. Teachers from these schools visit students’ homes to provide counseling and support. Even for students residing out of the state, their contact details are collected and guidance is provided over the phone. To raise awareness, pamphlets are distributed, and announcements are made through auto rickshaws.
Regular monitoring and evaluation of progress are carried out by the DEO, ADEO, BEO, and SIOS coordinators. This dedicated effort by the district education department has truly transformed into a significant movement in Kalahandi. The recent camp witnessed the enrollment of 501 students, adding to the existing count of 847 students already enrolled in the Kalahandi district. The District Education Department aims to achieve complete enrollment of eligible students by August 31st, as informed by District Science Supervisor Dusmanta Sekhar Padhi. Block Education Officer of Bhawanipatna, Sunanda Panda, conveyed her words of appreciation.
