Biramitrapur: Two persons were killed and 18 others injured due to lightning strike here at Nuagaan Baneilata in Sundergarh district on Sunday.
The unfortunate incident took place during a football match at Baneilata village.
All the injured persons have been admitted to Rourkela Government Hospital. Two of the injured are in a critical condition, hospital sources said.
According to reports, lightning struck around 20 persons including players and audience. They all fell unconscious. All had been shifted to Hatibari Community Health Centre (CHC) immediately where two succumbed to injuries during treatment. Others have been shifted to Rourkela.
Meanwhile Hatibari, police reached the spot for investigation. Local MLA also visited the hospital to enquire about the condition.
