Narla (Lingraj Mishra): The 31st annual function of Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan and the state-level Kumarswami Mahotsav-2023 is set to unfold over three days, running from November 25th to 27th. Chief adviser Bijaya Kumar Dhangadamajhi noted that preparations are underway at Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan in Budhipadar, located in the Narla Block of Kalahandi District. This year’s Kumarswami Mahotsav will showcase Kalahandi’s three ancient folk dances: Dom Baja, Dhap, and Banabadi. ‘Muhuri’ (Mahuri) represents the essence of the Domb caste, ‘Dhap’ is the tribal dance of Kandhas, and ‘Banabadi’ is a distinctive feature of Yadav culture. Consequently, the opening day is designated as ‘Muhuri Din,’ the second day as ‘Dhap Din,’ and the closing day as ‘Banabadi Din,’ aiming to acquaint the new generation with the ancient Atavik civilization.
The festival will feature Dom Baja, Sing Baja, Bajashal, Dhap, Banabadi, Laudi Dance, and Ramleela of Balangir-Kalahandi, Danda Nrutya of Sonepur, and dance performances by artists from different parts of the state and neighboring Chhattisgarh, according to Sudhir Kumar Dhangadamajhi, joint secretary, and Salil Kumar Dhangadamajhi, cultural secretary of the organization. On this occasion, there is a decision to honor state personalities who have achieved success in various fields. In the coming days, prestigious awards such as ‘Devgiri Samman,’ along with Devgiri Yuva Samman, Devgiri Sahitya Samman, Devgiri Lokakala Samman, Devgiri Sambadikata Samman, Devgiri Krushi Samman, Devgiri Samajaseva Samman, Devgiri Narada Samman, Devgiri Shiksha Samman, Devgiri Barta Samman, Devgiri Deshaseva Samman, Devgiri Guru Samman, etc., will be announced, as conveyed by Sanjaya Dhangadamajhi, President, and Jaydrath Jal, Treasurer of the organization.
