Kalahandi (Lingaraj Mishra): Odia boy Tapan Gaud created a new record in the 2nd Versatile Cup All India Open Karate Championship held in Jamnagar, Gujarat. He participated in the said competition organized by the Versatile Youth Shotcon Karate Foundation and won the second position and a silver medal. Tapan Gaud, 24, is the son of Sanju Gaud and Bhuri Gaud of Budhipadar village in Narla block of Kalahandi district. He is currently training students at Innovative International College, Rajkot and MSB School, Rajkot as a Karate Coach.

Tapan, an ambitious and hardworking young man from the rural area of Narla block of Kalahandi district, has made his own identity in Gujarat. Trained from the All Gujarat Martial Arts Academy, Mr. Gaud has been honored by several institutions. However, under the supervision of coach Haresh Trivedi, he has brought laurels to entire Odisha and Kalahandi by securing second position in the World Versatile Cup Karate Championship. Karate competitors from different parts of the country participated in this competition. Tapan has given the credit of this success to his parents, village and coach. Tapan has said that if he gets a chance in any school in Odisha, he will return from Gujarat.
