Sarian High School Students Honour their Teachers in Gurupujan
Bhawanipatna, YNN (Lingaraj Mishra): In the timeless Sanatan culture, the position of the guru is held in the highest esteem. The blessings of one’s guru are truly the most precious asset in a person’s life. An ordinary individual can attain immortality through the guru’s grace – this sentiment was powerfully echoed during the Gurupujan celebrations at Panchayat High School, Sarian.
Panchayat High School, Sarian – a premier educational institution in Narla block of Kalahandi district – is proudly marking its silver jubilee this year. Students representing all 37 batches of the school took turns to perform traditional Gurupujan and pay heartfelt homage to their revered teachers. Among those honoured were headmaster Sadhuram Bhoi, teachers Ganganarayan Dash, Kailash Chandra Bhoi, Umakanta Bhoi and Minati Satpathy, retired teachers Narayan Sahu and Salil Ranjan Sikdar, retired clerk Pramod Chandra Bhoi, serving peons Kapil Matali and Sadhuram Sahu, as well as retired peon Bholanath Dhangadamajhi.
The alumni association presented token gifts of affection to the gurus. Former student Sudhir Kumar Dhangadamajhi skilfully anchored the proceedings.
Chaired by alumni association secretary Ramesh Chandra Sahu, the programme was graced by Kalahandi Zilla Parishad chairman Pushpendra Singh Deo as chief guest. Distinguished guests included former ministers Bhupinder Singh and Balabhadra Majhi, along with former MLA Kumarmani Sabar. Prasanna Meher, district youth officer of My Bharat, delivered the keynote address, while Zilla Parishad member Harishankar Majhi and assistant teacher Ganganarayan Dash were among the honoured dignitaries on the stage.
The dais was elegantly managed by alumni Achyutananda Bhoi and Soumya Susmita Bhoi.
The evening’s cultural highlight was the play ‘Dharani’, scripted and directed by former student Mihir Kumar Bhoi and performed by alumni, which left the audience thoroughly delighted and entertained.
Under the dynamic leadership of alumni association president Om Prakash Chhatria, supported by vice-presidents Bijay Dhangadamajhi, Manoj Pattanayak and Raghunath Deep, general secretary Ramesh Chandra Sahu, advisors Binayak Mahanta, Jemant Podh, Ajit Kumar Sahu, Pareswar Rana and Makaranda Majhi, joint secretaries Reena Bhoi, Achyutananda Bhoi and Somya Ranjan Sa, treasurer Narottam Karuan, and members including Chandra Shekhar Sahu, Himadri Bhoi, Swadhin Kumar Bhoi and Shiba Prasad Sahu, together with all sub-committee members, the entire event was executed flawlessly. Former students extended wholehearted cooperation in ensuring the smooth conduct of the programme.
