District-Level Model Parliament Programme
Bhawanipatna, Yadu News Nation: The winter session of Parliament today saw heated debates, allegations, counter-allegations and high drama. While various bills were tabled for discussion, opposition MPs stalled most of them. Such exciting scenes were recreated at the Model Parliament programme organised in Bhawanipatna.

The Kalahandi district-level Model Parliament was held on the premises of BM High School, Bhawanipatna. Organised under Samagra Shiksha, students from 19 PM SHRI schools across the district took part, representing MPs from different states.

Bills were debated for and against, followed by voting. The student-MPs mirrored the proceedings of the Indian Parliament with great accuracy. Student Shubhalakshmi Sahu chaired the House as Speaker.

Professor Vivekananda Chhatar, Dr Kailash Chandra Das, Dr Pavitra Bag and Shubham Tripathy acted as judges. Students Shwetaprabha Gopal and Isha Durga, playing journalists, interviewed the MPs and asked questions in the press conference.

The inauguration, chaired by District Education Officer Radhakanta Chhatri, had Kalahandi Additional District Magistrate Tanmay Darwan as chief guest, Maa Manikeswari University Vice-Chancellor Dr Nivedita Nath as chief speaker, and guests of honour including Joint Director, Regional Directorate of Education Pavitra Mohan Sahu, Additional District Education Officer Hemsagar Mahanand, BM High School Headmaster Sashti Jhankar and Samagra Shiksha Planning Coordinator Niharika Panda.

After the Model Parliament, meritorious participants were honoured. CRCC Dileswar Rana anchored the stage proceedings, while Additional District Education Officer Hemsagar Mahanand proposed the vote of thanks.
It has been announced that the top winners, Nivedita Naik and Kamalini Singh, will represent the district at the upcoming state-level programme.
