Kalahandi, Yadu News Nation (Lingaraj Mishra): The first Sane Majhi Memorial Football Tournament held at Gunapur Adivasi Playground under Narla Block of Kalahandi District has ended. The sports competition was held for two days under the auspices of Khamanpada Adivasi Football Team. The closing ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Narla Block Chairman Durga Prasad Mohanty, the guests of honour were Narla Zilla Parishad Member Harishankar Majhi, Ghantamal Sarpanch Devendra Sa, Sarian Samiti Member Bhaskar Bhoi, Gadebandh Samiti Member’s Representative Ajit Kumar Sahu, Forester Boblu Naik, Educationalist Kshetish Chandra Majhi, Sarpanch Representatives Keshari Bagh, Ketan Majhi, Dingar Munda, Ganesh Munda, Chauban Majhi, Suresh Majhi, Dasharatha Jani, Dilip Bagh, Kumeshwar Majhi, Ramesh Majhi and presented trophies and cash prizes to the winning and runner-up teams.

Eight teams participated in the competition. Takkarla qualified for the final after losing to Kesinga Budharja FC and Kusumpada and Borguda teams in the semi-finals. The final match was held between Takkarla and Kusumpada. As no one could score a goal in the stipulated time, a tryback was called. Takkarla team won 4-0. Taryak Pradhan, Bulu Majhi and Chanchal Majhi refereed all the matches and Suresh Majhi acted as the fourth referee.

Takkarla team’s Tutu Majhi was awarded as the best goalkeeper, Kusumpada team’s Shankar Majhi was awarded as the best scorer and Takkarla’s Kailash Majhi was awarded as the best defender. Kalahandi’s famous announcer Shashikant Majhi gave the details of all the matches. All the players of the Adivasi Football Team cooperated in the management of the program.
