Kolkata YNN (Rajat Bansal): The second day of the birth centenary seminar on Nirendranath Chakravarti resumed with a session on “Nirendranath: His Prose”. In the session, Professor Ramen Kumar Sar spoke on the emotive and emphatic appeal of the writings of Nirendranath Chakravarti. Professor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee spoke on the autobiographical writings of Nirendranath. Professor Sumita Chakraborty spoke on the distinctive aspects of the prose of Nirendranath Chakravarti. The next session was focused on “Nirendranath: His Fictional World”. In this session Professor Madhusree Sen Sanyal spoke on the detective novels of Nirendranath Chakravarti. Professor Prasun Ghosh spoke on Nirendranath Chakravarti’s writings for the children. Professor Siuli Sarkar spoke on the travelogues of Nirendranath Chakravarti. The fifth session was on “Nirendranath: The Poet”. In this session, Professor Tarun Mukhopadhyay spoke on the themes of poetical works of Nirendranath Chakravarti and compared them to the works of other great writers.
Professor Krishnarup Chakravarti spoke on the prospects of recitation in case of the poems by Nirendranath Chakravarti. The valedictory address was delivered by Sri Abhirup Sarkar. He summed up his speech through an attempt to identify a common thread that may tie up his diverse volume of works. The seminar ended with the show of a documentary film, produced by Sahitya Akademi, on the life and works of Nirendranath Chakravarti. A large number of writers and scholars had attended the seminar.
