Bhawanipatna: In a significant move towards inclusive education, Samagra Sikshya, Kalahandi, in collaboration with Sightsavers India, hosted a laptop distribution ceremony for children with visual impairments (CVIs) on March 15, 2024. The STARs project by Samagra Shiksha facilitated the distribution of 9 laptops, while Sightsavers India generously provided an additional 7 laptops, 6 smartphones, and 15 Braille kits, with support from Toll.
The event was honoured by the presence of the Collector and District Magistrate of Kalahandi, P Anvesha Reddy, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished attendees included the District Education Officer, Sushant Kumar Chopdar, District IE Coordinator, Lipika Aparajita, and a Project Officer from Sightsavers India.
This joint endeavour highlights the dedication of both organizations to create an educational environment that is accessible to all. By equipping these children with necessary technological tools, they aim to close the technological divide faced by CVIs and ensure they have the same opportunities for academic success.
The Collector, in her speech, stressed the vital role of community support in fostering the abilities of children with disabilities and lauded the efforts of Samagra Sikshya and Sightsavers India.
In their continued commitment, Sightsavers India and Samagra Shiksha have vowed to provide training for the effective use of the distributed laptops, making sure the beneficiaries can fully utilize the technology.
The ceremony ended with a reaffirmation of ongoing support and the collective goal of building a more inclusive society where every child, regardless of their challenges, has the chance to pursue a bright future.
