Bhawanipatna: The ‘Srujanira Bichhurana’ event, hosted by Kalahandi University’s Odia Department, showcased Rasabihari Behera, a distinguished novelist, editor, sportsperson, former minister, and MP, as the esteemed guest. The Yuva Sanskar Hall was chosen as the venue, where Professor Sanjay Kumar Shatapathy, the Vice-Chancellor, led the proceedings. Dr. Pallishree Pattanayak, Head of the Odia Department, adeptly coordinated the event. Eminent author Parameswar Mund highlighted Mr. Behera’s accomplishments as a critic, while PG students Ashirbad Behera and Jashobanta Sahu engaged in discussions about his literary contributions. Eminent figures like Dr. Birendra Suna, Director (Academic), Dr. Nibedita Nath, Chairperson of the PG Council, Major Jayadeb Sahu, Head of the English Department, and renowned dramatist Dr. Umesh Shatapathy graced the event.
Mr. Behera shared insights from various life phases and exchanged thoughts with the attentive audience and students. His multifaceted roles as a politician, novelist, essayist, author, editor, and social activist were underscored. Five PG student-faculty members from the Odia Department, recognized for effectively guiding graduate students the previous year, were honored. The programme also featured an announcement of the PhD guides within the department. Mr. Behera himself inaugurated the ‘Rasabihari Behera Krutikona’ (Book Corner) within the university library premises. The event attracted a substantial student presence, including PhD guides Dr. Rakesh Bishi and Dr. Suranjan Pradhan. The dedication of faculty members like Dr. Dayanidhi Parida, Dolamani Dharua, Renuka Dakua, Dr. Pratyasha Dhal, and Jayanti Bhoi contributed to the event’s success. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the university, Faculty member Jayadratha Suna delivered the vote of thanks.
