Bhadrak: Laxmidhar Mallick, headmaster of Bania High School in Bhadrak district, has been suspended on charges of corruption and financial irregularities.
Based on the report of Bhadrak District Collector and District Education Officer, State Government’s Primary Education Director Sushant Kumar Das has suspended Mallick.
Action has been taken against the headmaster to implement the state government’s ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against corruption. The suspended headmaster was accused of embezzling lakhs of rupees while he was posted at Arisa government high school.
A complaint was filed with the District Collector and the District Education Officer that Mallick had misappropriated around Rs.18 lakh by producing fake bills for purchasing Almirah, benches, fans, raw materials for construction etc for the school.
It was alleged that Rs 25,000 was embezzled by Mallick by producing false bills for cleaning, repair and painting of the school for reopening of school after the Coronavirus pandemic.
On the basis of these complaints, the DEO’s office investigated the allegations and wrote to the government through the District Collector for action after the allegations came out to be true.
Accordingly, the Education Department has ordered the suspension of the accused headmaster and a proper investigation into the case.
