Dhenkanal: A man was shot dead by unidentified miscreants at Hadagari under Kamakhyanagar police station limits in Dhenkanal district on Sunday evening.
According to sources, the deceased man identified as Minaketana Dalei (45), a resident of Kanpura village within Kamakhyanagar PS limits, was returning home from work at Tata mines when some unknown men opened fire on him. A bullet hit Minaketana as a result he collapsed on the spot.
Some locals, who spotted Minaketana lying in a pool of blood, informed the family members who then reached the spot and rushed him to Kamakhyanagar sub-divisional hospital. But, the doctors declared him dead at the hospital, the sources added.
On getting information, local police reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem. However, the actual reason behind the firing is yet to be ascertained by the police.
