Soil Conservation Overseer Caught Taking Rs 22K Bribe In Mayurbhanj’s Bisoi

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended the Soil Conservation Overseer of Bisoi block in Mayurbhanj district while taking Rs 22,000 to process the muster roll of labourers engaged in the execution of farm ponds under the MGNREG Scheme.

According to reports, the accused Soil Conservation Overseer, Kishore Kumar Behera, was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths for demanding and accepting an undue advantage of Rs.22,000 from the complainant.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on October 10, wherein accused Behera, was caught by a team of Odisha Vigilance near Medical road Bisoi, Mayuurbhanj while taking the bribe from the complainant.

“The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Behera and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hand wash, as well as pant pocket wash of Behera, gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him,” the Vigilance said.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the rented residential house of Behera at Bisoi, Mayurbhanj, his house in native village Bhadrak’s Dhusuri and his office room in the Office of APD, Watershed, Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj.

Accused Kishore Kumar Behera, Soil Conservation Overseer has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. In this connection, Balasore Vigilance P.S. Case No.30 dated 9.10.2022 U/s 7 PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation, the Vigilance added.
