Balasore: Joy of a group of fishermen knew no bound after they caught a number Telia Bhola fish from the Bay of Bengal sea mouth near Digha on Odisha- West Bengal border on Sunday. They are lucky to catch around 28 such valuable fishes from the sea which fetched Rs 35 lakh in the local market.
Fishermen said that they sold the fish for Rs 14,000 per kg in local Mohana Market. A Kolkata based Pharma Company purchased the fishes for Rs 35 lakh. These fish have immense medicinal value which is why it is so expensive. This fish maw can be used to manufacture medicines that save lives. Therefore, a foreign corporation paid a big sum to purchase this giant fish.
For the unversed, fish maw is the dried swim bladders of large fish which are present in the stomach. It is also one of the most expensive body part of the fish. People consume it as an anti-aging healthy food due to its high collagen content. It is also sold abroad for its medicinal purpose.
