Odisha Cabinet Okays Proposal Of Single Optional Subject For OCS Exams



Bhubaneswar: Odisha Civil Services (OCS) aspirants can opt single optional paper for the examination as  Odisha government on Friday made major amendments to the exams conducted by the Odisha Public Services Commission (OPSC).

Among other revisions made by the State Cabinet is the single optional paper choice. Earlier aspirants used to opt two optional papers but with the amendment to Odisha Civil Services (Combined Competitive Recruitment Examination) Rules, 1991, now candidates will have to write a single optional paper.

This apart, the total marks in the OCS examination has also been rationalised. Henceforth, candidates will have to appear for total 2000 marks instead of 2250 marks earlier.

The decision was taken in the lines of Union Public Services Commission (UPSC).

The government had earlier also announced to make Odia language one of the mediums for the candidates.

The General Administration Department had also written to the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) in this regard. As per the decision of the State government, the preliminary, main and interview of the State Civil Services Examination will now be conducted in both in English and Odia.

Henceforth, the questions papers of the prestigious examinations will be set both in Odia and English.
