Kalahandi, YNN (Lingaraj Mishra): The 32nd annual function of Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan, a beacon of art, culture, heritage, literature, and tradition in Kalahandi, alongside the state-level Kumarswami Mahotsav-2024, is set to captivate audiences for three days from 13th November to 15th November. The event will be held at Budhipadar, under the Narla Block of Kalahandi District.
Gosinga Daitya Darbar: A Highlight of Kumarswami Mahotsav
This year’s Kumarswami Mahotsav promises a mesmerising spectacle—’Gosinga Daitya Darbar’. Traditional folk dances, including Dom Baja, Dhap, and Banabadi, will be showcased, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage. According to folklore and mythological tales, Maharaja Gosinga Daitya, the great-grandson of Mahishasur, once ruled in Asurgarh and worshipped Lord Shiva at Devgiri. The Devgiri-Budhipadar area is a significant part of the ancient Atavika civilisation, and this festival aims to connect the younger generation with this cultural legacy.
A Vibrant Festival Lineup
During the festival, visitors can enjoy a variety of performances, such as Dom Baja, Shing Baja, Bajashal, Dhap, Banabadi, Laudi Nrutya, a play by Binapani Sanskrutik Anusthan, Santpur’s ‘Kankala Kheliba Raktara Hori’, and Dandanrutya from Sonepur. Artists from different parts of the state and neighbouring Chhattisgarh will grace the stage, showcasing their talent.
Honouring Achievements
As part of the celebrations, distinguished individuals who have excelled in various fields across the state will be honoured. The prestigious ‘Devgiri Samman’, along with awards such as Devgiri Yuva Samman, Devgiri Sahitya Samman, Devgiri Lokakala Samman, and others, will be announced in the coming days. President Sanjay Dhangdamajhi and General Secretary Sunil Kumar Dhangadamajhi are spearheading efforts to make this event unforgettable.
