Berhampur: ITI, Berhampur has organised the waste 2 wealth symposium to implement Green Skill activities in campus for sustainability under Nua Odisha.
E-waste, Automobile Scrap, Tyre, Bottle Cap, TMT Bars from demolished building are up cycled in 20 teams. Prof Geetanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University and Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor, Khalikote University have inaugurated the program. This will run for three days students from Polytechnic, Engineering school, other Pvt. ITIs, High schools are visiting the Symposium. It is live experience for the students to get the knowledge for up cycling the waste and adhered the concept of the green skill. The product developed by the students will be sold to general public in a store inside the campus. The shop open for 24 hours and the profit of the products will be directly transferred to the students account.
Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mohanty, Vice-Chancellor, Khalikote University said for sustainable economic growth can only be achieved when the world of work can effectively transaction towards greener and sustainable practice to prepare the training system to respond such ambition. In order to equip the learner for emerging green jobs and provide them green competencies which can enable them to adopt to work practice and portfolio.
Prof Geetanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University said In order to achieve the skill of inclusive and sustainable economics greening TVET is the only one way to promote “Education Sustainable Development”.
Dr. Rajat Kumar Panigrahi, Principal, of the institute said. 8.4 million Jobs are to be created for young people aged 15-29 by 2030 as a result of green transition as per the report of ILO. To infuse sustainable practice such as waste management sustainability, increasing hands on skill and to create circular economy are the good practice which is the need of the hour. To meet green skill concept the reuse of the waste and creating wealth is highly essential. The symposium will fulfil the need.
