Upcoming Telefilm ‘Senrra’ Sheds Light on Vanishing Pottery Tradition

Bhawanipatna: In an era where traditional heritage crafts are slowly fading away amidst the whirlwind of modernity, the lives of artisans, including skilled potters, hang in the balance. The upcoming telefilm ‘Senrra’ aims to vividly portray the dire circumstances faced by the pottery community, likening their plight to the setting sun on life’s horizon. This poignant production, which delves into the challenges of endangered heritage professions, is currently in the making.

The film, featuring a cast of talented artists, seeks to deliver a powerful message to society through their exceptional performances, thoughts, emotions, and sentiments. The shooting of ‘Senrra,’ sponsored by Doordarshan Bhawanipatna and hosted by Devgiri Sanskrutik Anusthan, a prominent local organization, is underway at various locations in the vicinity of Bhawanipatna. The film is under the adept direction of the young filmmaker Sourav Mahapatra, while the screenplay is adapted from the work of budding writer Dileswar Rana.

The cinematography duties are skillfully handled by Pabitra Khosla, with Amiya Bhoi taking charge of the editing process. Nirmal Patra and Pinaki Dash are offering their valuable assistance in bringing this project to life. A remarkable ensemble cast, including Trimohan Sahu, Ajit Nayak, Alok Sahu, Soumaranjan Jena, Dhananjaya Sahu, Dileswar Rana, Rameswar Tripathi, Sanjay Dhangadamajhi, Subham Behera, Sudhir Dhangadamajhi, Swadhin Patra, Trinath Shyam Kumar, Hukum Rana, Diptimayee Singh, Pragyan Parimita Nayak, Manasiprabha Nayak, and child artists Khushi, Suryansh, and Piku, are taking on pivotal roles in the film.

‘Senrra’ is slated for broadcast on DD Odia in the near future, promising to shed light on the challenges faced by traditional pottery craftsmen and their vanishing way of life.
