Nabarangpur, Yadu News Nation: A shocking incident of barbaric assault on five members of the Yadav community has come to light from Chandahandi block in Nabarangpur district, sparking outrage across the state. A viral video on social media shows the victims being mercilessly beaten, forced to kneel on a scorching tar road under 45-degree heat, and subjected to obscene verbal abuse by a group of miscreants while they were returning home with their cows and bullocks.
The Utkal Yadav Mahasabha has strongly condemned the incident, terming it a brutal blow to the dignity of the entire Yadav community in India. In a statement, the organisation said such savage behaviour in a civilised society raises serious questions about the law and order situation in Odisha.
Acting on the direction of the state organisational secretary, Er. Pradeep Behera, a delegation of the Mahasabha met the SP of Nabarangpur district on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum demanding a thorough probe into the matter. The representatives urged the police to book all those involved in the crime and award them the strictest punishment as per law.
The delegation included state general secretaries Govind Banchhor and Amit Nayak; state women’s cell president Sanjukta Behera; state social media cell coordinator Surath Harna; Kalahandi district Yadav Mahasabha president Nruparaj Yadav; district secretary Tripura Naik; district women’s cell president Rashmirekha Rout; district vice-president Jagadish Yadav; former state general secretary Kirtan Naik; former Kalahandi district general secretary and lawyer Sanjay Dhangadamajhi; Dharamgarh block president Shankar Jued; Golamunda block president Giridhari Teji; women’s leader Kamalini Yadav; and youth leaders Pitabas Behera and Prakash Banchhor. The Mahasabha has demanded a fair and detailed investigation into the incident and immediate action against all the accused.
