Literary Forum of Sahitya Akademi
Kolkata, YNN: Sahitya Alkademi organized a special poetry reading and discussion programme at office auditorium of Kolkata. Eminent American poet Bob Holman joined the programme as a guest poet. InThe programme welcome speech was deliverd by officer-in-charge of Sahitya Akademi Kolkata office Khetrabosi Naik. It was presided over by eminent Bengali poet Subodh Sarkar.
Sri Sarkar said that Bob Holman is a different kind of humanist poet. In his poems, he celebrates humanity. 22 collections of his poems have been published. He has also made several successful films. He keeps himself open to communicate with the whole world. His poetry is as simple as it is effective. His poetry has been performed and highly appreciated in many parts of the world including America.
Bob Holman spoke about his poetic journey and the narrative style of poetry. He said that a every word in a Poem is the Poem. Writing and performing poetry is a continuous process for me. Along with this, he recited his much-loved poems Dinosaur and 1990. At the end, he answered various questions from the audience. Many writers and literature lovers from Bengali, Odia and Assamese languages attended the event.
