Bhubaneswar: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, has established a new skills training centre, ‘VeDakshata’, at Bileimunda village in Sundargarh district, Odisha. The training centre will provide underprivileged youth in the region with placement-linked training andwill cater to aspiring youth from Hemgir block inSundargarh district and Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district. The skills training centre was inaugurated by ShriDasarathiSaraboo, OAS, Sub-Collector, Sadar, Sundargarh,in the presence ofother distinguished guests.
To drive this initiative,Vedanta Aluminium has partnered with LearnNet Skills Limited, a joint venture of SchoolNet India Limited and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The centre offers courses on sewing machine operation, electrical maintenance, and food and beverage service. The project aimsto train 700 rural youth over the next three years connecting them with opportunities beyond their immediate surrounding.
‘VeDakshata’ has already garnered a strong response from the community, with 105 students enrolling for the first batch of the training program. The skills training centre is equipped with contemporary infrastructure, featuring a multipurpose hall, a digital training room, training rooms for various tradesand separate hostel facility for both boys and girls.
