Bhawanipatna, YNN: Talented young author Dileswar Rana from Kalahandi district has been invited to attend the 79th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in New Delhi. As a special guest of the Government of India, he will take part in the prestigious national event. This is the first occasion that a young writer from Kalahandi district has been included in the Independence Day programme at the Red Fort.
Mr Rana will be present for the ceremonial flag hoisting and the address to the nation by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and will also have the opportunity to participate in other related events.
A native of Dhanramal village under Narla block, Mr Rana is known for his passion for short stories, poetry, features, and songs, as well as acting and compering stage, radio, and television programmes. His published works include the short story collection ‘Senrra’ published by Timepass publication and the novel ‘Melibhuin’, published by the National Book Trust. The title story from ‘Senrra’ was adapted into a telefilm broadcast on Doordarshan, which received widespread acclaim.
In recognition of his literary achievements, Mr Rana has been the recipient of numerous honours, including the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, the PM-YUVA Mentorship Award, the Katha Nabapratibha Puraskar, the Kadambini Galpa Unmesha Puraskar, the Tapasya Sambhabana Puraskar, the Pallaban Shabda Samman, the Devgiri Yuva Samman, and the Kalahandi Yuva Pratibha Puraskar. He has also been featured in the Sahitya Akademi’s Yuva Sahiti initiative.
In addition to his literary pursuits, Mr Rana has performed on various national platforms and appeared alongside acclaimed actor Raghubir Yadav in the Bollywood film ‘A Red Shirt’. His selection as a special guest for the national Independence Day celebrations has been met with warm congratulations from eminent personalities and well-wishers across the region.
