Kalahandi, Yadu News Nation (Labani Rout): The Samajwadi Party’s Kalahandi unit held a press conference on Saturday at Hotel Bhagirathi Inn in Bhawanipatna. Earlier in the day, a delegation led by the party’s Odisha State President, Shiba Hati Yadav, submitted a five-point demand letter addressed to the Chief Minister through Collector, Kalahandi. During the conference, Yadav highlighted the party’s call for greater representation and welfare measures, urging the government to reserve 27% of seats for backward classes in the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections, as well as NAC and municipal elections. He also pressed for district-based recruitment for Class III and Class IV government employees to ensure local opportunities.
Yadav further demanded immediate financial support, proposing a monthly pension of ₹3,000 for elderly widows and differently-abled individuals, alongside a commitment to provide 300 units of free electricity to all families across Odisha. Additionally, he advocated for a shift in electoral processes, insisting that NAC and municipal elections be conducted using ballot papers rather than electronic voting machines to enhance transparency. The event saw participation from prominent party members, including State OBC Cell President Dhanu Gopal, District President Jagadish Yadav, Secretary Santosh Bhoi, Vice Presidents Sobhaban Bhati and Tulmani Nag, and numerous party workers.
