Kalahandi, YNN (Rajat Bansal): In response to the rising number of road accidents and fatalities in the Kalahandi District, the Office of the Collector has issued a new order aimed at enhancing road safety measures. The district has seen a troubling increase in fatal accidents, particularly involving motorcyclists not wearing helmets.
In an official order, Collector and District Magistrate P. Anvesha Reddy outlined stringent new measures to address this issue. The most significant of these is a fuel restriction for motorcyclists not wearing helmets.
Starting from 1st August 2024, all fuel pumps in Kalahandi District are prohibited from providing fuel to motorcyclists who are not wearing helmets. This measure is intended to underscore the importance of helmet use and enhance road safety.
The order also includes directives for various district authorities to ensure effective implementation. The Superintendent of Police, Kalahandi, has been tasked with informing all police stations in the district about this new order and ensuring strict enforcement. The Chief Civil Supplies Officer (CCSO) of Kalahandi is responsible for communicating this directive to all fuel pump owners, with penalties for non-compliance. Additionally, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Kalahandi will intensify enforcement activities against motorcyclists who ride without helmets.
This order is a proactive step by the district administration to reduce accidents and save lives. Collector P. Anvesha Reddy emphasized the community’s role in adhering to these new rules to ensure safer roads in Kalahandi. The administration calls upon all residents to cooperate and contribute to making Kalahandi’s roads safer for everyone.
