Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) personnel today inspected the security system in the banks and jewellery shops in various police station areas as part of the “Safe City Drive” campaign.
The cops checked whether the existing CCTVs are functional or not and suggested to install more CCTV cameras in the sensitive areas of banks and jewellery shops.
Similarly, the police teams also recommended to install CCTVs in shops and places near banks, implement alarm/siren system in case of any accident or crime and deploy armed security personnel.
The banks officials and jewellery shops owners have been advised to mention the police control room number or mobile number on the walls of the respective banks and jewellery shops to get immediate assistance in case of any untoward situation.
Similarly, jewellers have been advised to keep maximum jewellery inside the secure lockers and minimum jewellery outside for display to the customers, and to keep a close watch on the unauthorised entry of people as much as possible.
Nowadays criminals are adopting new ways to loot money and jewellery by tricking individuals. Bhubaneswar UPD has been requesting the public to install double lockers on the two/three wheelers they are using as a safety measure from theft.
Such inspection campaign under “Safe City Drive” on behalf of Bhubaneswar UPD will continue, the police said.
