Dhenkanal: As many as 12 persons were injured, four of them critically, after an explosion took place in firecracker shop at Badasuanala village near Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
All the injured have been admitted to Kamakhyanagar sub-divisional hospital while the critically injured have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The reason of the blast has not yet been ascertained. Fire service personnel swung into action and brought the flame under control.
According to locals, Sisir Pal of Badasuanla village was selling crackers in his makeshift shop on occasion of Diwali. Some people including two minors gathered there to purchase the crackers, candles and others.
The explosion occurred all of a sudden in the shop in which 12 persons who were present there sustained critical burn injuries.
The critically injured are Jagabandhu Nayak, Dusmant Nayak and his minor son and a minor girl.
