Depression Over BoB Intensifies Into Deep Depression

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha will experience heavy rainfall as the depression that lay centred over the east-central Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

According to the weather agency, the Depression over eastcentral Bay of Bengal has intensified into a Deep Depression about 580 km northwest of Port Blair.

Following this, the IMD’s regional centre has issued an alert of heavy rainfall for several districts across the State.

Yellow warning has been sounded for Kendrapara, Puri, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack districts.

While light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, and at isolated places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal, the rest of the districts will witness dry weather, the IMD said.

Similarly, light to moderate rain/thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, at a few places over districts of south coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at isolated places over the rest districts of Odisha on October 24.
