Berhampur: Huge cache of illegal fire crackers were seized by the police here at Sundarpur village under Chhatrapur police limits in Ganjam district on Tuesday. Two persons involved in the illegal activities have been detained. They have been questioned, police said. Following a direction from Ganjam SP SP Brikjesh Kumar, a team of police headed by Chhatrapur IIC Satya ranjan Pradhan conducted a surprise raid at a house in Sundarpur village and seized the crackers worth Rs 4 lakh. A four-wheeler vehicle used in the transportation of the illegal crackers has also been seized, police said. Police were tipped off regarding hoarding of crackers as Diwali is approaching. The SP had earlier held a meeting with the IICs of different police stations and directed them to keep an eye on illegal activities during festive season.
