Balasore: A man and a woman set themselves ablaze over family dispute at Guagadia village under Jaleswar block of Balasore district.
While the woman, identified as Liza Majhi, died, her husband Ratikant sustained critical burn injuries and was undergoing treatment.
Ratikant had married Liza of Balasore area, three months ago. The woman had recently gone to his in-laws’ house and returned home yesterday.
According to reports, a heated exchange of words erupted between the duo over some issue. Later, his family members opened the door of the room and saw the husband and wife burning alive.
The duo was rescued and rushed to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later, they were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
While Liza succumbed to her burn injuries midway, Ratikant’s health is stated to be critical now, said sources.
