Sahitya Akademi Organises Birth Centenary Seminar of Kishori Charan Das

Cuttack, YNN (Rajat Bansal): Eminent fiction writer Kishori Charan Das was a distinguished voice in Odia literature. His short stories are powerful. In his writings, he portrayed the life of the middle class in a unique style. His words are immortal, as expressed by the guests at Kishori Charan’s Birth Centenary seminar.

The Kendra Sahitya Akademi, in collaboration with Utkal Sahitya Samaj, organised the Birth Centenary seminar of Kishori Charan Das at Shatabdi Bhawan, Cuttack. The seminar was inaugurated by eminent author Dr Pratibha Ray. She described the beauty of Kishori Charan’s writings and shared her fond memories with the celebrated author. Sahitya Akademi’s General Council Member and eminent critic, Professor Bijoy Kumar Satpathy, delivered the keynote address. Evaluating Kishori Charan’s life and creative wealth, he said that the great mantra of life and the words of the human mind reflected in the literature of the beloved author are becoming a great wealth for future generations.

Dr Gourahari Das, convener of the Odia Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi, presided over the inaugural session and said that Kishori Charan’s literature moulds the reader with inner feelings. Dr Gobind Chandra Chand, President of Utkal Sahitya Samaj, delivered the introductory remarks, while the welcome address was given by the Officer-in-Charge of the Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata Office, Kshetrabasi Naik. Aditya Pratap Dhal, General Secretary of Utkal Sahitya Samaj, presented the vote of thanks.

Eminent critic Dr Babaji Charan Patnaik presided over the first session, during which papers were presented by Chirashri Indrasingh, Debabrata Madanray, and Prof Gurucharan Behera. The second session of the seminar was chaired by Dr Girish Sahu. In this session, papers were presented by Dr Jnani Debashish Mishra and Dr Rabinarayan Maharana. Vice President of Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Jibananda Abhikari, and Treasurer Shibashish Kar coordinated both sessions. A good number of writers and literature lovers were present at this literary seminar.
