Six Held For Hacking Man To Death In Berhampur

Berhmapur: Police have arrested six persons in coonection with the brutal murder of a bus hawker, Sanatan Choudhury, in Bada Bazaar police limits area of Berhampur on 6th of May, 2023.

The arrested accused are Prashant Sahu (20), son of Jagannath Sahu (20) of Nimakhandi Pentha village under Digapahandi police station, Prakash Khatua (19) son of Rahas Khatua of Dhepa Sahi under Baramunda police station in Khordha district, Shiva Naik, son of late Krishna Naik of Venkataraypur in Gopalpur police station, Kalia Sahu alias Lassi (27) son of Subas Chandra Sahu of Prahlad Nagar under Bada Bazar police station, Rama Raul (19) son of Narsingha Raul of Lakshmi Narasingha Sahi and Rahul Panda (20) son of Ashok Kumar Panda of Brahman Sahi under Golanthara police station.

A sword, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones and one gold chain has been seized from them, the police said. Several criminal cases are pending against the accused persons at different police stations. All the arrested accused persons have been forwarded to the court today, the police added.

According to reports, a group of men dragged Sanatan Choudhury out of his house at Acharya Vihar located between Berhampur-Digapahandi and hacked to him death on the night of 6th May, 2023.

 

Berhmapur SP Sharavana Vivek M informed at a press meet that a notorious criminal, Pradip Sahu, who is currently lodged in jail, had masterminded the murder. Accused Prasant is the brother of Pradip and Sanatan was murdered on suspicion of sorcery.
